The argument has ended
The posting on Liberal Conspiracy Betraying Sex Workers has come to an end with a fairly unintelligible comment from Yvette Doll then I never quite understood any of the comments she made, but then I am a thick abuser.
The thread was started by Cath Elliot and was basically an attack on the associations which represent sex workers and are trying to get the voice of sex workers heard. These attacks are going to become more frequent.The reason is because the IUSW and ECP and the UKNWSP are winning the media battle, and have got the media questioning the falacious statistics being presented by the abolitionists. Yes people like Cath Elliot are running scared. So now Cath and soon Julie Brindel wil be aiming their poisonous comments on the IUSW and ECP.
The two associations, the ECP and the IUSW were accused of not representing sex workers because it was thought that the majority of the members were managers of brothels and agencies. The IUSW does have agencies represented, it has always admitted this. The accusation was that Douglas Fox was an agency owner, and that he was one of the spokespeople for the IUSW, and he was only there to safe guard his income.
What the abolitionists ignore is he is a gay sex worker, and additionally they ignore the fact that many sex workers progress from exclusive direct involvement is sex work to running their own agency or brothel. They just do not understand the dynamics of the industry.
What pisses me off in these debates is so many abolitionists have not the slightest knowledge of sex work, have never even spoken to a sex worker, and then totaly write off the comments of sex workers, and of men you use their services.
When they do have knowledge, it is invariably with street prostitution, and so many of the statistics bandied about by the abolitionsts come from that source.
So who won, everyone keeps their own entrenched view.

To give Cath her due, she has been known to engage in direct communications with sex workers; those who comment on her Cif pieces, at least, & has admitted when she has been wrong in accusing them of being pimps or men pretending to be sex workers in the light of this.
However, the summary of the comments to the Blog items, both at LC & Shiraz; apart from Gregory Carlin/Sudeten/Yvette Doll’s nonsensical contributions, is that, as usual, anyone who attempts to disagree with the abolitionist stance is automatically assigned a label that is laden with emotive images, in an attempt to discredit them in the eyes of other readers (BTW, Bindel did contribute a comment to one of the many blogs, which consisted of accusing a sex worker’s rights campaigner of being a pimp. About sums up her debating style.)
Likewise, organisations which campaign for sex worrker’s rights, academics & ouitreach programs (such as UKNSWP) must be discredited by the abolitionists; Bindel has gone so far as to claim that ECP are a bunch of “mad Trots” acting as a “front for the CIA”, which is sort of contradictory, as these are the very people most liekly to bring the lies that are being used to promote Jacqui Smith’s proposed legislation to the notice of the media &, thereby, a wider audience.
Such attacks also have the benefit, for them, of diverting attention from those issues that might just prove to bee too awkward for them to discuss; similar to the way that discussions of how the provision of safe working conditions & employment rights to sex workers should be the priority are always diverted into a debate about how this would normalise the industry; much use of the “Ick Factor” being employed in the process – i.e. “Would you allow your son or daughter to do this?”
The main problem is that we are dealing with blinkered ideologues who are quite unwilling to allow facts to get in the way of their self-appointed missions to think for others & save them, whether they want saving or not.

You were given a completely honest insight as to why the IUSW were on a guaranteed hiding to nothing.
I suggest you do a FOI for records and notes relating to the State of Illinois, and British male teaches & schoolgirls which were addressed to Jacqui Smith MP when she was schools minister. From lIllinois as it would be.
There are no neo-cons, or religion, or anything else going on there.
Just one US state wondering what on earth was going on in British schools and why the Brits simply couldn’t arrest a few teachers to sort out a global sex grooming epidemic.
Teachers are, really, honest to goodness, the reason the mini-brothel plans were reversed.
I’m not joshing, that’s a completely legit heads-up
I as a person, might be in bed with neo-cons, that’s a separate thing, the democrats in Chicago also asked the G/TIP people what was known, about Brit teachers.
They were told British teachers are a bigger problem than the pimps.
Which is another totally legit heads-up.
